How to use the "STRETCH Twin Needle" in a sewing machine
- Activate the twin-needle mode or select a similar button on your sewing machine (if available) to limit the stitch width. This prevents the needle from hitting the needle plate and breaking.
- Before you start, check the thread tension by sewing a few test stitches on a scrap of fabric. Adjust the tension so the lower thread forms a slight zigzag shape in the seam. This will ensure a stretchy seam.
- On thicker layers of fabric, slightly reduce the sewing speed to avoid needle breakage.
- Do not pull or push the fabric while sewing, as this can cause uneven stitch length or, in the worst case, break the needle.
- To get a smooth, even seam without irregularities, use spray starch or a water-soluble stabilizer while sewing.

Two Stretch needles joined by a flat shank: ideal for sewing two parallel stretchy seams at the same time.

With a Stretch twin needle, you can create professional and stretchy seams for T-shirts and other knit garments, even without a special coverlock machine. With a standard household sewing machine, it is possible to make two precise and stretchy parallel seams at the same time using two top threads.
The moderately rounded needle point gently separates the fabric loops without damaging them. This helps prevent holes from forming. Thanks to the special shank design, the needle sits closer to the hook, which, together with the special indentation, prevents skipped stitches even in very stretchy knit fabrics.
Note:
The needle connection color is now red (previously blue). This change does not affect the needle's technical properties.
Before sewing:
The Stretch twin needle can be used in all standard household sewing machines with a zigzag function. Like other household needles, it is inserted into the needle holder so that, from your point of view, the flat side faces away from you.
The needle plate and presser foot must have a sufficiently large opening for the selected needle spacing.
Threading the needle:
Each of the two needles requires a separate thread spool. If you do not have a second thread holder, use a bobbin for the second thread and place it on the holder under the first thread spool.
Make sure both threads unwind in the same direction. Guide the threads through the sewing machine guides together as one, then separate them and thread each one through its own needle eye. Some machines have special thread separators - please follow your machine's instructions.
Important:
The automatic needle-threading function does not work with twin needles!
Fabrics / applications:
-
- Cotton knit
- Stretch fabrics
- Fine jersey
- Jersey
- Fine knit fabrics
- Single jersey
- T-shirt hems and edges
- Decorative seams in different colors
- Two-line seams for stretchy seams
Warning: Make sure your sewing machine has a sufficiently wide opening in the needle plate and presser foot to safely use a twin needle with a large spacing between the needles. An incorrectly chosen needle can damage the sewing machine or cause the needle to break.
